Vorwort
Soviet Kitchen is a colorful co-operative card game about grinding the weirdest ingredients. Up to four players try to match the color of dishes ordered by the Soviet people, and try to avoid hitting the toxicity level for as many rounds as possible.
An app-based meat grinder is placed on the table. The app (for Android and iPhone devices) guides you through a story about a field kitchen unit in post-war Soviet Union. The app is essential to the color-mixing gameplay! The team debates about colors they want to play and their effects, but they never show these cards to their comrades. Then, each player drops an ingredient into the grinder. The cards are scanned with the front camera of the device with every action that players take. Over 80 different illustrated cards allow for an endless number of resulting color mixes and occurrences! If your color is close enough to the target, your meal is accepted and the game goes on. The better you mix, the more money you earn that you can spend on grinder updates for upcoming rounds.
It's post war, though, so many of these ingredients are not exactly edible. Each has a toxicity value or even radioactive effects. Mother Russia cannot survive your toxic recipes unless you go slow and act strategically on when to play toxic items, and in what order. Every time that Mother Russia's tolerance for maximum toxicity is reached, one life is lost, taking away one card of each comrade's hand. You may also lose a life if you meal is refused because of an unfitting color. The game ends if you have zero cards in hand and zero lives left. How long can you cook, and how many rubles can you earn before this happens? Compare your high score to the performance of others around the world.
Soviet Kitchen also includes a campaign mode, and in the campaign you start as a cooking unit at the very last days of war. Starting with military supply, you will soon be on your own and improvise with what the Soviet countryside (and later Moscow) has to offer, to cook more and better menus. You face sixteen different missions, each with its own introduction and challenge. Mission by mission, the team earns more and more rubles, unlocks new cards, and goes from rag to riches, finally cooking for the Kremlin society.
