In Crazy 5, players are confronted with five dice each turn: three yellow and two red. They roll the yellow dice up to three times, setting aside any Xs they roll, then look at the sum of the pips on these dice:
- If the sum is 5, their turn ends and the next player rolls.
- If the sum is greater than 5, they roll the red dice, scoring victory points for each red die that matches the difference between their sum and 5 (e.g., if their sum is 7, and they roll a 2 on a red die, they score 2 points).
- If the sum is less than 5, their left-hand neighbor rolls the red dice, losing them points for each red die that matches the difference between their sum and 5.
Whoever first has 12 or more points wins!
