In Bookmaker, players race horses around the track by playing cards from their hands. They're not concerned about winning, however, but about making as much money as possible from the bets they place based on what they hold in hand.

Each turn is divided into two phases: the bidding and the race. The players decide for each race who the two bookmakers will be for that race. The cards in the game are divided into different colors, which make certain horses run faster than others. Each player knows his own four cards and the four cards face-up on the table. Considering this information, the players decide on which horse to bet; at the same time, the two bookmakers (who see additional cards) secretly decide the prizes for the horses. During the race, the betters can ask for credit from the bank to spend and win more money – but of course in the end, they will be forced to pay the money back to the bank with interest!
