El Sagario

For many centuries, two medieval kingdoms – Sagazio and Bavario – disputed their front lines in epic wars, until finally a peace agreement determined that in the future the ownership of these kingdoms would be given, for a period of time, to the ones who win a strategic war game that reproduces past battles.

El Sagario is that game, with only one player winning in the end. The game is played on a red and blue board with 81 spaces. Each player has up to eleven miniatures: five of them representing knights, and the other six soldiers. To configure different battles, the players will position up to five immobile miniatures represent signposts on the board, in addition to placing their own pieces in predetermined locations.

Soldiers and knights can both move only one space in a diagonal direction each turn, with the soldiers trying to support a player's knights in their attacks and eliminate the opponent's soldiers. The knights try to eliminate opposing knights, with the attack following three specific movement rules called "logic of Ságaze" that allows a player to create unpredictable trajectories. This innovative movement system makes all the difference in this game, and the player who uses it best to eliminate all of an opponent's knights will win.
