On September 1st, 1939, the German forces launched the invasion of Poland, unleashing the most devastating conflict in human history. Six years after, the war had come to engulf dozens of nations all over the planet, becoming a true World War.
High Command: Europe is the first game in the High Command Series by Academy Games, a system that brings unique mechanisms into the Second World War setting and that will confront the players with the tough decisions that theatre commanders had to face during the conflict.
In HC: Europe one player leads the Axis forces, trying to make good their early head start and occupying the most vital areas in Europe before the Allied player is able to reverse the tide. Players will have to mobilize and strengthen their armies whilst gathering the resources that are the lifeline of their war effort.
The action-selection mechanism provides for a fast and tense experience, with multiple avenues to consider and no downtime between turns. Also, unlike most wargames, HC: Europe uses no dice, charts or counters.
The game comes with short scenarios so that players can acquire a good grasp of the system, but even the full campaign can be played in less than three hours.
